About the role
The Human Factors (HF) and HSE Program Specialist is responsible for managing and delivering key HSE programs at PN with a specific focus on improving Fatigue Risk Management. This role is required to collaborate with design teams and other key stakeholders to integrate human factors considerations into the design and implementation of HSE programs. The role is also required to identify and evaluate the human factors risks and issues for end user groups and integrate best practice human factors into operational design.
The HF and HSE Program Specialist would also assist the broader HSE team to understand and apply any changes or new initiatives and, where necessary, support them in the education of their client groups.
Key responsibilities include:
- Update fatigue management standard and guideline in relation to:
- Fatigue-related hazards
- The core principles of fatigue risk management; and
- Develop a decision-making pathway for applying those principles
- Collaborate with various teams, to integrate human factors considerations into the development process
- Direct and conduct human factors analysis at Project level, including task analysis and workload analysis
- Undertake human factors integration into nominated projects and monitor compliance
- Provide technical advice to nominated projects on HFI and the application of HF principles
- Prepare HF reports, including HF assessment reports, assurance reports and post-implementation reviews
- Capture and manage HF risks derived from Projects, HF workshops and ensuring closure of HF requirements
- Undertake HF awareness-raising activities with internal and external Project teams and stakeholders as needed to support early and effective HFI
- Develop and maintain detailed program and project plans and reports to track progress
- Ensure effective change management including communication planning and stakeholder engagement, developing and updating processes and procedures where required, and training for key stakeholders
- Other HF and HSE projects and activities as required
About you
As a motivated and experienced Human Factors and HSE Specialist, you will have 2 plus years demonstrable experience in the application of HF methods and knowledge in one or more of the following industries: Rail, Aviation, Resources, Energy, Mining and Resources. You will have demonstrated project or program management experience and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
In addition, you will possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Factors or similar discipline or related work experience
- Experience in integrating human cantered principles into project design advantageous based on relevant standards (e.g. AS 7070, ISO 9241, ISO 16982)
- Ability to identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions
- Ability to manage complex situations and have well developed problem solving and negotiating skills
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and budget
- Highly experience in use of PowerPoint, Excel, Work, and Outlook to manage projects
