About the position
Reporting to the Technical Manager at the refinery, you will provide technical assistance of The Perth Mint’s strategic plans and deliverables of operational excellence for all process changes and improvements in the short, medium and the long-term timeframes.
Main duties & responsibilities
- Assist operations with 1st level technical support on a daily and ad hoc basis.
- Provide information on technical problems experienced by operations to the management team.
- Participate in finding and implementing solutions to the problems identified.
- Tracking process efficiencies and analysing processes and equipment to identify areas of improvements.
- Assist in commissioning and handover of key equipment and processes capital upgrades as per the strategic capital plan.
- Execute complete projects (from conception to handover) (low level change processes) as identified by management.
- Execute complete projects (from conception to handover) (medium level change processes) as identified by management.
- Investigate new technology and processes in the precious metal refinery, chemical and manufacturing industries and highlight the advantages and disadvantages of these to management.
- Assist in upskilling operational staff and supervisors on technical knowledge of their processes.
- Ensure all changes in process are embedded within operations.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in metallurgy or chemical engineering
- High level of knowledge of chemical/ metallurgical principles
- Experience in process engineering
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills to build effective working relationships.
- Ability to understand and interpret results, technical articles and effectively communicate these to others.
- Occasional overtime and afterhours work subject to project requirements.
