Pitcher Partners has established a Digital and
Data Solutions service offering for its clients so that they
can be more insights/data driven. Over the past four
years, a high calibre team with strong experience across Data
Architecture, Business Intelligence and Data Science/Analytics
has been created.
Pitcher Partners has a Digital and Data Solutions (DDS) service offering and in response to strong market demand in recent years, a specialist Payroll Compliance and Modelling team has been built. Given the complex nature of awards, advanced modelling skills are essential to calculate and assess pay entitlements.
About the role
The Payroll area is undergoing a phase of rapid growth and we are seeking an experienced coder with leadership experience or potential to play a key role in leading and guiding payroll engagements. There is strong demand in this specialist area across the industry and there are excellent prospects for growth and promotion within both the Payroll area and the wider DDS team for the right person.
You will add value by:
- Leading and assisting in payroll engagements and acting as 2IC to the Payroll Analytics manager
- Work in a high visibility role, liaising directly with the client and legal representatives, who interpret complex awards and other industrial instruments
- Translating award interpretations into codable algorithms and writing the code to implement these
- Performing complex data wrangling on large datasets
- Interacting with client payroll and project teams to elicit needs and deliver outputs
- Presenting outputs in an intuitive way to people across the data expertise spectrum
We actively encourage and support post graduate studies and recognise hard work through our time in lieu leave arrangements. In addition, you will be mentored by senior experts within the group and participate in regular professional development training to further develop your knowledge and skills.

Related tertiary
qualification
You are degree qualified within the Data Analytics field (ideally at a postgraduate level).
Relevant industry
experience
You will have at least 5 years’ experience within a Data
Analyst or similar role, with significant data wrangling and
database work.
Programming expertise
You will have a high level of fluency with R or Python, and be comfortable using Tidyverse tools (or their Python equivalents) and DBMS (ideally SQL Server).
