Meet your team
The team is responsible for the day-to-day management, development and monitoring of the various compliance, risk and quality management functions within the firm and the provision of advice in respect to these functions. This includes administering, designing, implementing, supporting, training, monitoring and advising on risk management, compliance management, independence and quality management across all practice areas of the firm, as well as supporting the Network Firms.
About the role
This role has a particular focus on quality management and accounting professional and ethical standards but will require the successful applicant to develop a broad knowledge and skill sets across a range of compliance and risk management functions for the broader firm. This role would suit an individual with a background within compliance, internal/external audit and/or quality management.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting with the design, implementation and monitoring of the firm’s System of Quality Management in accordance with ASQM1, ASQM2, APES 110 and APES 320.
- Assist with the analysis and interpretation of data collected from monitoring activities with respect to the System of Quality Management
- Assisting in the maintenance and development of policies designed to manage overall quality and compliance, including the National Quality Management Manual and the Melbourne firm quality control policies (e.g. Modern Slavery, Whistleblowing, Security, Cyber Security)
- Assisting with the preparation of Risk Committee papers and the taking of minutes as required
- Active participation in undertaking risk reviews as directed by the Risk Committee and/or Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, including testing the effectiveness of controls and compliance with established policies and controls
- Active participation in the development of recommendations originating from risk reviews and developing strategies to improve processes and controls and to drive change across the firm or affected practice
- Proactively identifying changes in laws and standards that impact the business and assisting with the interpretation, impact and management of these changes as they affect the wider firm and individual practice areas

Related tertiary qualifications
You have a law, accounting and/or commerce degree and/or have
gained experience working in compliance, internal/external audit
and/or quality management. We will also consider applications
who are newer or returning to the workforce and have an aspiration
to forge a career in risk and compliance. Knowledge of the
accounting standards would be advantageous but not essential.
Strategic thinker
Commercially minded, you think strategically and can
work either autonomously or collaboratively in a team. You can
interpret and apply legal and technical knowledge and can craft
well written, accurate and practical communications or advice.
Effective time management
System savvy, you can prioritise tasks and effectively
manage conflicting deadlines. You act with integrity and can
influence and develop trusted working relationships with key
stakeholders.
