The Opportunity:

Port of Newcastle is looking for a new Work Supervisor – Marine, following an internal opportunity for our previous team member. In this role, you will be responsible for the reliability and safety of the Port’s marine structure assets including wharves, jetties, seawalls, breakwaters and the opportunity to work with the Engineer – Marine Structures in the management of the Port’s marine infrastructure. This role requires the management of contractors, and services providers and suppliers to deliver high quality and efficient services.

The role sits as a part of the Infrastructure Services team and will assist in the achievement of the overall department plan. It has a collaborative focus and will be required to work closely with other key stakeholders both internally and externally. You will have responsibility for end-to-end process of maintenance works, including the inspection, investigation, scoping, procurement, planning, scheduling, execution and close-out.

What you will bring:

Your well-developed technical and communication skills will be essential for success in this role. Also essential is:

• Trade qualification in Bridge and Wharf Carpentry or considerable marine construction and maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the development of work scopes, procurement of services and management of contracts and contractors.
• Experience in the coordination and supervision of maintenance works in a port or industrial setting.
• Experience in utilising computerised maintenance management systems (preferably TechnologyOne) to administer maintenance works.
• Current C-Class driver’s licence
• Intermediate level computer skills in the use of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
• Demonstrated organisational skills and capacity to work independently.
