At Powerlink, every possibility starts with you

We believe life’s about possibilities. And so is the future. That’s why we need you.

We’re working at the heart of Queensland's energy industry to maintain a safe, reliable and cost-effective transmission network.

A career that matters and lasts

As an Administration Trainee, you’ll help us connect more than five million Queenslanders and 241,000 businesses to a world-class energy future. Your work with us is about every light turned on, every community connected, and every future made possible.

  • Traineeship wages from $28,106* for school leavers to $49,296* for adults (Year 12 + 5 years) *subject to increase mid-June 2026
  • Kickstart your administrative career with an Industry Leader!
  • Enjoy the benefits of a 9-day fortnight as well as inclusive, well-equipped workplace facilities

This opportunity is part of a broader initiative under our Reconciliation Action Plan, increasing job opportunities for First Nations people in sectors where they have been, and continue to be, underrepresented. We highly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The opportunity:

Embark on a varied and exciting career journey, where you’ll grow both professionally and personally.

As part of your traineeship, you'll begin in Reception for the first three months - welcoming visitors, issuing security access cards, scheduling transport, answering calls, and delivering exceptional customer service. You'll interact with a wide range of guests including government officials, company representatives, members of the public, and new employees arriving at Powerlink.

You'll also gain hands-on experience in the Mail Room, managing courier interactions, mail distribution, archiving, and notifying staff of deliveries.

Beyond this, you'll rotate through Administrative teams across the business, receiving training in:

  • Financial administration
  • Travel bookings
  • Uniform and stationery ordering
  • Catering coordination
  • Supporting functions and events throughout the year

At the end of the traineeship, you’ll earn a nationally recognised tertiary qualification, alongside valuable, practical on‑the‑job experience.

The people you'll join:

You will report to the Team Leader of Administration and Corporate Services in the Communications, Customer, and Engagement team. Joining a large team of administrators supporting the Powerlink business, you’ll work a 9-day fortnight from 8:15 AM to 5:05 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break each day. Enjoy plenty of free onsite parking or a convenient walk from Virginia Train Station!

What you'll bring:

We're looking for a warm, friendly and organised self-starter who is a good team-player and who loves providing great customer service. You'll have good time management, great people skills, and be motivated by helping others.

While you won't need any administration experience, you will need to have a passion for learning and acquiring new skills and be open to feedback. Some days will be varied, some days may feel repetitive - we're looking for somebody who wants long-term development and appreciates the opportunities available to them once they finish!

Find your possibility today:

To kick start your career at Powerlink, apply by clicking the button above, attaching your resume and cover letter on our careers page before midnight on Sunday 24th May 2026. Please be aware our recruitment team will commence the review process during this period.
