About the role
We're growing! Powerlink will be playing a critical role in delivering the Queensland Energy & Jobs Plan over the coming years.
As a result of an internal promotion we have an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play an integral role in delivering high quality financial budgets, analyses, reporting and advisory services to the Executive Manager and Group Managers of a division to drive operational and strategic decision-making across the business.
We are going through an exciting time of transformation and this role gives you the opportunity to challenge our status-quo, initiate change and work directly with senior management.
In this role you will:
- Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the relevant Division’s business strategies and processes, and effective working relationships with the division’s leadership team to enable the delivery of useful, relevant and informed financial planning, analysis, reporting and advisory services.
- Develop, communicate and manage the divisional budget and forecast processes in a timely manner to establish a set of budgets and forecasts that properly reflect the relevant Division’s strategy.
- Develop and provide financial reports (including informed, purposeful commentary) to the Executive Manager and Group Managers to ensure they are fully apprised of relevant division’s financial performance and position, enabling fulfilment of their financial accountability objectives.
- Identify and present opportunities for reporting, process and system improvements and work with other teams as necessary to implement enhancements to improve the end-user experience.
- Perform and present various financial and workforce analysis, both proactively and upon request, to support informed business decision making by divisional management.
- Partner with stakeholders to provide timely, practical and pragmatic advice on financial related matters and issues that support decision making to support the achievement of short term and strategic outcomes.

About you
You are an experienced accounting professional and can really make a difference by leading and guiding leadership teams and fostering trusted relationships that will help to create change with a positive and proactive approach.
You are recognised for your highly developed problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills and look forward to collaborating with leaders of all levels on the opportunities and deliverables that this diverse role offers.
We are looking for an individual with passion and desire to make a difference who will be comfortable in being an influential and clear communicator across all levels of an organisation.
To be successful for this role, you will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- Degree qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Commerce. CA/CPA Qualification desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of management accounting systems, processes and techniques relating to budgeting, reporting and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to design and administer participative budget processes for a division within a large business.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and produce tailored and user friendly financial reports, with concise, insightful commentary, to support operational and strategic decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of the use of financial models to support planning and forecasting objectives through the use of scenario analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-divisional team to contribute to the delivery of positive whole-of-business outcomes, while maintaining long term business relationships based on openness and trust.
- Experience in Financial Modelling and Excel.
- Experience working with SAP/SAP Analytics Cloud and TM1 would be an advantage.
