The Organisational Training team is responsible for the strategic development, design and execution of Powerlink's training function. The function includes all statutory, corporate and technical training applicable to employees and contractors, and is an important enabler of the safe and effective delivery of services by Powerlink to the community, customers and market.
About the role
You’ll be responsible for providing training needs analysis, development and delivery of training and training advice to Powerlink employees and contractors in relation to electrical and other safety training competencies. A collaborative role, you’ll work alongside leaders and key stakeholder to identify training needs and gaps, designing and developing fit-for-purpose training and courses as well as field-based development programs aimed at uplifting our workforce capability.
Your accountabilities will include managing the HV Switching Exposure and Assessment program, leading and delivering electrical safety training, assessment of competency and maintaining the integrity of the safety training decisions and materials. You’ll conduct training and assessment for small and large groups within a live High Voltage environment, ensuring their safety whilst developing their knowledge and skills
With a lens of continuous improvement, you’ll contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of our annual training calendar, ensuring legislative training requirements are met, whilst proactively seizing opportunities to increase Powerlink’s electrical and behavioural safety performance through new programs, courses and training opportunities
About you
Your experience in a trade, field-based complex and high-risk environment has equipped you with the ability to communicate succinctly and accurately, flexibly applying a training approach appropriate to your audience, with highly-developed interpersonal skills. You’ll be confident in coaching your training groups to success, working consultatively to build trust and impart knowledge in a safe and supportive way.
With a strong background in Safety, you’ll be highly knowledgeable in the Electrical Safety Act and Regulations, WHS legislations, with a working knowledge of SAHVEA Procedures as they relate to working and operating on the Powerlink Network in a High Voltage environment. With strong working knowledge in the maintenance and workings of substations, secondary systems and transmission lines, you’ll be confidently equipped to educate in the risks, safety protocols and procedures associated with working in those environments.
With a Minimum Qualification as an Electrical Fitter/Mechanic, you’ll ideally have completed tertiary level qualifications in Adult or Vocational training or a Cert IV in Training and Assessment. You’ll be a Powerlink authorised Switching Operator/Recipient OR present with the ability to become qualified and authorised quickly, dependant on the level of training and assessment to be delivered
