Great 24 months fixed-term opportunity based in Townsville supporting the energy transformation with Queensland's transmission network. Advise on strategy and policy as the key liaison between government and our business in North Queensland.

About the role

It is an exciting time to be part of the energy industry and especially at Powerlink, as we help shape the renewable energy transformation in Queensland and Australia. There is significant change occurring at Powerlink and your role will provide a vital link between our organisation and the Queensland Government.


As one of the guardians of our reputation as a world class transmission business, you will play a proactive role in liaising with a range of stakeholders to ensure the highest quality communication is maintained. Reporting to the Government Relations Manager you will provide expert advice on governmental, policy, legislative, and regulatory issues affecting Powerlink and the energy sector with a strong focus on North Queensland.

You will develop and implement effective communication and stakeholder relations strategies, ensuring strong relationships at state and local government levels. You will be the key contact for government relationships in North Queensland.

About you

Your success in this role will rely heavily on your ability to apply the skills that made you successful in your previous government, policy, or communications roles. You will ideally have an existing deep network of government and local contacts in North Queensland.

With a degree or similar qualification in policy, communications, public relations or another relevant field, you have strong exposure to government operations, and a well-developed understanding of how to effectively engage and communicate with a range of government, local and internal stakeholders, from your teammates through to the Chief Executive.
