About the role
Powerlink Queensland is a leading provider of high voltage electricity transmission network services and plays a central role in connecting Queenslanders to a new energy future. As part of this, we are planning and delivering a large number of major projects, including renewable energy developments, across Queensland.
The next ten years will see revolutionary changes to the way that electricity is delivered to Queenslanders and so to achieve this exciting, unprecedented growth we are seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Advisor to support electrical safety for our people, the network and our community.
About you
You are all about driving improvement projects for safety management systems and deliver real outcomes for electrical safety.
You have a strong ability to engage and build effective working relationships, have a customer focus and the negotiation ability to understanding and influencing internal and industry stakeholders.
You are up for the challenge of being the senior level lead technical expert for delivering projects for Powerlink’s Electrical Safety Rules and Electrical Safety Management System.
You are equally an expert in work practices and network safety in the high voltage electricity environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and keep up to date, Corporate Electrical Safety Standards, Guidelines, Tools and Templates aligned to recognised industry standards and codes in consultation with peer managers and key stakeholders to ensure business relevance, effectiveness in implementation and the delivery of a holistic HSE Framework.
- Support the implementation of the Electrical Safety Management element of the HSE Management System and identified initiatives to ensure compliance with legislative and contractual obligations.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and advice to Powerlink managers, supervisors, staff and external stakeholders on all aspects of Electrical Safety Management practices and concepts, including areas responsible for embedded electrical safety through operational and asset management.
- Work with SMEs throughout the business to monitor and improve electrical safety performance and risk management practices.
- Provide technical expertise to less experienced team members and mentor and contribute to the ongoing development of the Electrical Safety and HSE Advisors.
- Build and maintain strong industry level relationships with peers and other industry members to positively influence Electrical Safety work practices and regulatory outcomes.
Position requirements:
Degree qualification in Engineering, Business or Project Management, or relevant equivalent trade experience with significant experience in work practices, improvement project and change management.
