About the role
Joining our team of 5 senior and corporate lawyers and reporting into the Legal Counsel, you will provide proactive, commercially focussed and user friendly legal advice.
Your area of responsibility will be planning and environment, cultural heritage and property including native title processes which support the delivery of linear infrastructure projects.
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Providing advice on land tenure interactions with electricity infrastructure, environment and planning project approval processes.
- Advising on environment and cultural heritage compliance management including external policy developments and internal process improvement opportunities.
- Supporting the business in community and stakeholder engagement as part of maintaining a social licence to operate.
- Managing external providers.

About you
You might be looking to make the move from an external law firm or already have in-house experience, what is most important is your considerable experience in environment, planning and property legal obligations associated with infrastructure project delivery.
You are a qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with considerable post admission experience and also have a current QLS practicing certificate and an open drivers licence.

The purpose of the Senior Corporate Lawyer position is to provide legal services to people at all levels of the organisation with limited supervision and direction of Legal Counsel. The position will provide those services directly to people in Powerlink or manage the delivery of legal services by external providers.
The position is expected to provide expert and independent legal advice and services directly to relevant officers within the corporation. While it is normally expected that the person in the position will follow lawful and reasonable directions of supervisors, he or she is subject to an overriding obligation to act in accordance with accepted professional standards and rules of an admitted legal practitioner.
