Powerlink Queensland manages and operates Queensland’s high voltage transmission network, providing high voltage electricity to over five million Queenslanders and 238,000 businesses.

With exponential growth already underway, we are currently inviting expressions of interest for the Copperstring Project. Backed by a $5 billion investment, this is a once-in-a-generation project to rebuild our network backbone.

What is the Copperstring Project?

CopperString 2032 is the largest ever economic development project in North Queensland, and one of the largest expansions to the power grid in Australia.

The Copperstring project will build 840 kilometres of transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa with the highest voltage levels in the state.

This project will further unlock the renewable energy potential of this region.

You will create success by solving complex project delivery problems with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency and ensure delivery to approved budget, time and infrastructure specifications.

To join our new Copperstring JV project delivery team, we’re inviting applications for the following;

  • (Senior) Project Managers – Transmission Lines and Substations
  • (Senior) Construction Managers – Transmission Lines and Substations
  • Construction Delivery Specialists – Transmission Lines-, Civil- and Electrical Advisors, QA Inspectors

What you’ll bring

Experience in major projects with the following categories will be highly regarded:

  • Transmission line and tower construction projects; civil, structural and stringing
  • Substation construction projects; civil, primary and secondary systems
  • Contractor- and Contracts management
  • Cultural Heritage, E.H.&S. standards and legislation related to major linear infrastructure projects
