CopperString 2032 is the largest ever economic development project in North Queensland, and one of the largest expansions to the power grid in Australia. The Copperstring project will increase the transmission capacity to 500kV and build 840 kilometres of transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa. This project will further unlock the renewable energy potential of this region.
We need your experience in major Project Financial Accountancy to help deliver this flagship QLD energy infrastructure project.
As Project Accountant you will be responsible for financial management, analysis, and reporting related to our CopperString project. This position involves ensuring accurate financial tracking, cost control, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. You will ensure financial risks are minimised, and the projects financials are administered with accuracy and efficiency.
And you’ll do it with down-to-earth people who you’re proud to work with and get to know. Here’s how:
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance against approved plans.
- Generate timely and accurate financial reports, forecasts, and analyses to support decision-making on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.
- Prepare financial documentation, project budgets and forecasts and support internal and external audits as needed.
- Work closely with project managers to track project costs, expenses, and commitments.
- Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the Project’s profitability, return on investment, and cost-to-completion projections.
- Review project contracts, invoices and agreements to ensure accurate financial terms, milestones, and billing schedules.
- Identify financial risks and uncertainties that could impact project financial outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
You will provide crucial financial support and advice to our project team, facilitating the achievement of key project milestones. In this role, you will play an integral part in our project delivery process, ensuring that our projects are executed within budget and to high quality standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, ideally supported by a CPA or relevant certification
- Significant experience in project accounting or financial analysis, preferably within the energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
In addition to this ideally you will have:
- Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems, such as SAP, COINS or similar.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and generate meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
