Apprentice possibilities start with us.

Life is about possibilities, and so is your career.

If you enjoy hands‑on work, learning as you go, and being part of something that genuinely matters, an apprenticeship with Powerlink could be your next step.

Powerlink is at the heart of Queensland’s energy system. We deliver safe, reliable and cost‑effective electricity to more than 5 million Queenslanders and 241,000 businesses, and we’re building the workforce that will power the future.

What you’ll get as a Powerlink Apprentice.

  • Competitive pay + 14.75% super, with annual increases as you progress
  • A 9‑day fortnight (that’s a rostered day off every second week)
  • Opportunities to travel across Queensland and work in different locations
  • The ability to choose a trade stream that matches your interests and strengths
  • Industry‑leading training in a strong Safety‑First culture
  • No out‑of‑pocket costs - we cover TAFE fees, tools, uniforms and PPE

The opportunity:

Starting as an apprentice at Powerlink is all it takes to set up life‑long possibilities for your career.

Our four‑year apprenticeship program brings together:

  • Real, on‑the‑job experience
  • Technical and trade learning
  • Professional development
  • Travel across Queensland, working on different projects

You’ll be supported by experienced tradespeople who genuinely want to see you succeed, and you’ll build skills and confidence you can take anywhere.

Along the way, you’ll also gain extra qualifications, including First Aid, CPR, and high‑risk licences.

Explore your passion for electricity, solve real‑world problems, and build a career that takes you places, literally.

Eligibility requirements.

To be eligible for the program, you must:

  • hold a current Queensland driver licence (manual, or be willing to obtain one)
  • have your own means of transport
  • have completed Year 12 (or be in the process of completing it), unless you are a mature‑aged candidate (21 years or over)

Find your possibility today:

Register your interest using the button below.

You can upload your resume and cover letter, and our Recruitment team will keep you updated with next steps and information to help you prepare for your application.

If you’d like to discuss adjustment requirements or need more information, contact us at: recruitment@powerlink.com.au

Important note:

This is an Expression of Interest (EOI) only.

Registering your interest lets us keep in touch and share information about the Powerlink Apprenticeship Program. Submitting an EOI is not an application.

By registering, you’ll receive updates about the program and be notified by email when any formal application process opens.

You are welcome here.

You are welcome here at Powerlink, regardless of sex, race, culture, sexual orientation, disability or gender identity.

As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, we’re committed to building long-term employment opportunities for First Nations peoples. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As a Veteran Employment Supporter, we highly value the skills Veterans bring. Let us know if you're a Veteran for tailored support.

Successful applicants will undergo necessary pre-employment checks. As part of our commitment to maintaining a positive candidate experience, we pledge to provide a timely response to all applicants.
