At Powerlink, every possibility starts with you

We believe life’s about possibilities. And so is the future. That’s why we need you.

We’re working at the heart of Queensland's energy industry to maintain a safe, reliable and cost-effective transmission network.

A career that matters and lasts

As a Senior Safety Advisor, you’ll help us connect a more sustainable energy future for more than five million Queenslanders and 241,000 businesses. Your work with us is about every light turned on, every community connected, and every future made possible.

  • Fixed term (24-months) opportunity based in Gladstone, Queensland
  • Help shape the safety culture on our Gladstone projects - where your expertise will directly influence outcomes on critical infrastructure that matters.

We believe every employee deserves the opportunity to enjoy a work-life balance that enhances their overall wellbeing and performance through inclusive and supportive benefits.

Ask us about:

  • Flexible & hybrid working options
  • Career development
  • Cultural leave for ceremonial or sorry business
  • Other leave offerings
  • Inclusive workplace facilities
  • Health & wellbeing programs

The opportunity:

As a Senior Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects in Gladstone, Biloela and Rockhampton regions. Working at the forefront of large-scale construction and operational activities, you’ll provide expert safety advice that directly influences project outcomes, risk management, and compliance across the business.

In this senior technical role, you’ll act as a trusted subject matter expert -partnering closely with project and operational teams to embed effective safety practices from planning through to delivery. You’ll have a strong on-the-ground presence, supporting high-risk work environments while also influencing broader strategic outcomes.

Beyond project delivery, you’ll play an important role in building capability across the business- mentoring Safety Advisors, coaching leaders, and fostering a culture where safety and sustainability are genuinely valued and integrated into everyday work.

This is a unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that underpins Queensland’s energy network, while contributing to a team that is committed to continuous improvement, strong safety outcomes, and making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

The people you'll join:

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that partners closely with the business to deliver safe, sustainable outcomes across our projects.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals while also playing a key role in mentoring and developing others, influencing leaders, and building strong relationships across project and operational teams.

What you'll bring:

  • Degree level qualifications in Safety or Health coupled with experience or significant equivalent experience.
  • Formal investigation qualifications, or experience in contemporary event learning approaches
  • Internal audit qualifications (e.g. ISO45001/IS014001/ISO9001) and experience in delivering formal HSE audits

You’ll have experience providing practical safety advice, developing and improving safety management systems, and supporting compliance across major projects or operations. Your ability to interpret legislation, identify risks, and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions will be key to your success in this role.

You’re equally comfortable in the field as you are working strategically- partnering with stakeholders, mentoring team members, and driving a strong safety culture across diverse workgroups.
