The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly capable utilities professional to join the team on Rottnest Island in a senior leadership role.

As the Service Delivery Manager – Utilities , you will be responsible for overseeing the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of the island’s critical utility infrastructure. This includes the desalination plant, wastewater treatment plant, diesel power generation plant, and associated distribution networks.

This role comes at a pivotal time, with all utility assets either undergoing or scheduled for significant upgrades to meet the island’s future demand. It presents a unique opportunity to lead a key service division through a period of transformation while maintaining operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Island Operations Manager, you will lead the utilities function with a strong focus on service delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to all drinking water, wastewater, and electricity production standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all utility assets
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory and environmental standards
  • Drive a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement
  • Oversee asset upgrades and support project integration into operations
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary utilities team

Skills and experience

  • Ideally you possess a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree; or
  • Have minimum 10 years’ experience leading teams at water or power utility facilities.
  • Change Management and Process improvement experience
  • A "can do" attitude
  • Strong written and verbal skills, Demonstrated ability to multi-task through use of multiple systems tools and processes.
