About The Opportunity

Programmed Industrial Management is currently seeking a Project Manager - Projects and Shutdowns to join our industry-leading team in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. We are looking for an individual with 2-5 years of engineering experience in the manufacturing industry, coupled with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a Zero Harm culture, aligning with our safety beliefs, and empower all employees and workplace participants to engage in HSEQ matters.
  • Proactively work towards achieving Zero Harm by taking all necessary steps to mitigate risks in all business processes and systems.
  • Ensure that all estimating and quoting processes are completed with precision and within set timelines.
  • Conduct site visits for scoping and quoting purposes.
  • Identifies HSEQ requirements, labour, materials, hire and subcontractor costs to include in estimation.
  • Develop and manage plans, in conjunction with the team, including itineraries and major projects, to facilitate the achievement of the business's profit targets.
  • Monitor business activities continuously, with a focus on investigating and resolving delayed services, stagnant projects, and over-budget jobs.
  • Evaluate all aspects of project performance, including cost management, resource allocation, and customer satisfaction, in line with the overall contract strategy.
  • Regularly reassess project status, with a focus on labor hours and costs reporting.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments and develop Work Method Statements to control identified hazards.
  • Process all requests for labor, materials, and equipment required for the smooth flow of the project in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the site Coordinator/Supervisor to keep the client informed about the project and forward planning aspects.
  • Review operating costs to identify opportunities for reducing expenditure, improving profitability, and ensuring operational efficiency.

About You:

To excel in this role, you should ideally have experience managing site-based teams, with a background in the manufacturing industry or engineering being preferred. Additionally, you should demonstrate the following qualities and qualifications:

  • Trade Qualification or Tertiary qualifications in engineering or project management.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • A proven track record in business or contract management gained in a hands-on operational, contractual environment.
  • A working knowledge of equipment and systems in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Experience working with MS Project or a similar project management tool.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion.
