Our Purpose

Our mission is to keep small businesses moving. In 2012, our co-founders, Greg and Beau, noticed a gap in the small business finance market while working on their own businesses. Here we are today, a decade later, with thousands of happy customers. Every day is super exciting, and we’ve only just cracked the surface. We’re a passionate team of brilliant achievers, and together we’re taking the small business finance industry to the next level.

Our values truly reflect who we are. They give us a common purpose. Setting the tone for everything we do individually and as a company. Keeping us accountable. They define who we are, how we treat each other, our partners and our customers, and who we bring on board.

And as we grow, they remind us every day of what is important and why we do what we do.

The Prospa perks

We care about our people, so we take a holistic approach, that covers physical, emotional, community, and financial wellbeing.

Physical Wellbeing:

Our space: For those who work out of our Sydney HQ, we have several offerings in our physical space, ranging from end of trip facilities (including showers, towel service, and bike racks) to a selection of healthy snacks and beverages, as well as coffee machines, across all floors.

Ergonomics: All our employees have ergonomic chairs in the office and can request a standing desk. Everyone is also given the opportunity to opt in to a yearly ergonomic assessment.

Fitness: Throughout the year, Prosparians come together for various fitness initiatives, including City2Surf and Prospa’s Step Challenge. We care about the community, and money raised from these activities is donated to charity.

Emotional Wellbeing:

Our EAP: We partner with Life Street giving our employees unlimited access to professionals for confidential coaching and support, free for both employees and their eligible family members.

Employee groups: We have a diverse range of groups and channels on Slack that resonate with our people as humans, including our ever-growing group Parents@Prospa and Proud@Prospa.

Diverse space: Our HQ has a Wellness Room, Parents Room, and a Multi-Purpose Room to allow anyone to practice meditation or religious rituals.

Progressive leave offerings: Think ‘me days’, bonus leave, volunteer leave, getaway and extend your stay, well-rounded paid parental leave, purchasing leave, special leave such as paid domestic violence leave, gender affirmation leave, and paid bereavement leave.

Summer and Winter programs @ Prospa: These evolve and cater to the hybrid nature of our workforce. Our seasonal programs typically include free lunches, coffee carts, flu vaccinations, swag, and experiences such as massages.

Ad hoc webinars and sessions: We always make sure that we’re providing the right learning, development, and resources for our people. We’ve recently run events such as ‘Inclusion in Action Masterclass’, ‘Managing Team Mental Health’, speaker series from Financial Advisors, Wellbeing Coaches and Mountaineers who have summited Mt Everest.

Community wellbeing:

ESG: As Prospa continues to grow and mature, our community impact and social responsibility becomes even more important. With climate change now disrupting national economies and affecting lives here in Australia and all over the world, we recognise there is a responsibility to not only invest in our people, our customers and our business, but that it's also urgent we protect the environment and take immediate climate action. We’re pleased to partner with Trace - with the commitment of having Prospa certified as Carbon Neutral by the end of FY23! We will continue to explore how Prospa can reduce our existing emissions, as well as offset them. We have a dedicated responsible individual who is taking the lead on this initiative, and an employee resource group to support.

Kiva: We’re proud to partner with Kiva, a not-for-profit focused on helping entrepreneurs around the world to grow and prosper. We support Kiva through employee engagement campaigns and loan matching initiatives such as our #InvestInHer campaign for International Women’s Day 2021.

Financial wellbeing:

Other initiatives:

Ways of working: After plenty of experimenting with our ways of working at Prospa - we’ve proven hybrid work is effective, and we firmly believe it’s fundamental to our ongoing success. We’ve heard from our people, and hybrid is here to stay! The mix of hybrid working will look slightly different for everyone; based on the outcomes our people need to achieve, the type of work and activities they’re doing, and finding the right fit for them within the framework.

Connection: We’re very busy bees at Prospa, but we also know it’s important to stop and smell the roses! We get together on a regular basis through a number of meaningful events. These allow us to share updates and celebrate our achievements.

  • All Hands & Get downs - every first Thursday of the month we come together as a hybrid team for company updates, those joining in-person enjoy fresh barista coffee, and a themed social Get Down in the afternoon.
  • Company Wide Events – each quarter the entire company comes together for a kick off and twice annually we host a big offsite that all Prosparians attend, a Summer party, and an End of Financial Year with a gala awards dinner.
  • Collaboration days - These are the coordinated office days that we come together for in person connection, collaboration, innovation, and building/ maintaining social connections. We are treated to a pantry breakfast on Tuesdays,

Growth & development: We offer a range of internal tools, resources, and programs to fuel growth such as annual performance and growth plans, personal development plans, quarterly speaker series, strengths based training and coaching, Prospacademy – our internal digital learning platform and specific leadership courses:

RISE - Emerging / New People & Technical Leaders. Modular development program, building fundamental leadership capabilities.

LEAP - Senior People & Technical Leaders. Masterclass series designed to further enhance and deepen leadership capability aligned to our strategy.
