We work with businesses, government, and not-for-profits to understand complex social issues, risks and opportunities and develop and implement practical responses to create sustainable positive change. We also lead KPMG’s Global Business and Human Rights Network, bringing together specialists around the world to deliver international solutions.
Your Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists to join KPMG Banarra in Perth. In response to growing client demand, we are looking for a passionate Human Rights and Social Impact Manager, with a focus on the energy and natural resources sectors.
You will be part of a recently established KPMG Banarra hub in Perth and an integral part of the national team. You will play a key role by:
- Delivering innovative services to our energy, natural resources and other clients relating to human rights in business, social impact, Indigenous rights and cultural heritage, modern slavery, ethical sourcing, community investment, and stakeholder engagement.
- Developing and sharing your subject matter expertise in one of more of these areas within the team and across KPMG.
- Delivering large, complex multi-stakeholder projects with inter-disciplinary project teams.
- Helping shape the future strategy and direction for KPMG Banarra.
- Contributing to the public conversation through thought-leadership and other advocacy initiatives.
- Mentoring and helping develop team members to reach their full potential.
How are you extraordinary?
- You are passionate about human rights and the importance of companies doing business in a way that respects the rights of people.
- You have significant experience in the energy and natural resources sector and/or in realising the rights of First Nations people and communities.
- You have fantastic communication skills to share ideas, inspire, and create change. You are able to digest detail, distil and communicate complex concepts in both written and verbal forms.
- You are relationship-focused, with keen communication skills and the knack for building and managing connections with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- You are a project management pro, with a love of big-picture thinking and the skills to see projects from beginning to end, such as establishing project details, performance measurement baselines, key milestones, work breakdown structures and resource planning.
- You are a kind and compassionate team member with a passion for continually growing your leadership skills to manage effectively upwards and downwards and thrive in a diverse and multidisciplinary team.
- You are tuned in to business development opportunities, with confidence creating effective sales material including proposals, case studies, and other sector-specific material.
Your Experience

- Knowledge and experience in one or more of: human rights, social impact, Indigenous rights and cultural heritage, social performance in the energy and natural resources sectors.
- Significant experience in implementation of relevant tools and methodologies including stakeholder engagement, social research including interviewing, NVivo (or similar) coding and analysis
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, including report writing, presentation and workshop facilitation
- Consulting experience or directly analogous skills and experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in delivery of services.
- Capability/experience in business development and/or advocacy.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications that could include: human rights law, workplace relations or employment law, social or political science, gender studies, community development, other area of relevance and/or equivalent experience.
