About us
As a department our purpose is to help the community prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Purpose of the role
The Organisational Development branch provides organisational design, development and implementation of concepts to create contemporary and integrated strategies, frameworks, policies, programs, initiatives to build capacity and ensure workforce capability and organisational structure meets the needs to deliver frontline services and achieve organisational objectives.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor, you will be a key member of the team, responsible for coordinating and monitoring a range of activities and functions to support various program of works relating to organisational development and implementation strategies, including business improvement initiatives and organisational design activities. You will also assist with the compliance of reporting governance standards and collaborate with team members to ensure reporting timeframes and project reporting requirements are met.

- Experience or knowledge of HR or workforce planning in supporting organisational design and workforce / structural change projects, through workforce planning and workforce data analytics.
- Experience in correspondence and report writing, and coordination.
- Experience or knowledge of business process management documentation requirements, analysis and re-engineering.
- Experience in software packages such as Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and SharePoint.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Contribute to the analysis, design and implementation of innovative approaches, policy, procedures and supporting documentation to implement organisational design and business improvement activities.
- Provide high level timely and independent advice inlcuding data analysis to senior management regarding design, development, and transformational activities to meet organisational requirements.
- Extract and analyse workforce data for a variety of stakeholders to inform organisational design and support business improvement initiatives and design activities.
- Prepare and review reports, talking points, briefing notes, submissions, and other correspondence regarding organisational design initiatives in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and networks to support program activities and promote positive outcomes to ensure business objectives are achieved.
- Contribute to and participate in departmental projects and working groups to ensure timeframes and deliverables are achieved.
- Assist, as needed, with corporate governance and secretariat support for meetings, including preparing agendas, recording and circulation of minutes and follow up on actions and outcomes as required.
- Contribute to the planning, management and implementation of projects and change management initiatives in accordance with best practice methodology and whole-of-government governance frameworks.
