About us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.
The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.
Purpose of the role
Uniforms and Logistics is responsible for the provision of uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE) and operational equipment to all services and streams of the department. The logistics team manages the warehousing and supply of uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE) and operational equipment to the QFD staff and volunteer members, and provides supporting documentation, workforce engagement and customer service to meet service delivery requirements.
Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be a key member of the team, responsible for the development and management of tools and documentation including procedures, QFD Lookbook (dress standard advice to QFD staff and volunteer members) on-line content and workforce communication to support the delivery of the QFD Uniforms and Logistics Program.

- Knowledge of supply chain management techniques, contract management principles, and project management concepts.
- Confidence in use of SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Suite, modelling, analytics, and written communication.
- Experience/familiarisation in management of third party logistics/warehousing services.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Develop, implement, maintain and review tools, practices and procedures associated with the QFD Uniforms and Logistics Program to ensure compliance and meet organisational expectation and standards.
- Support the supply chain for uniforms, PPE and operational equipment to meet QFD’s service, value, community, safety, risk, quality, and governance objectives.
- Manage or support the delivery of key projects and initiatives to drive continual service delivery improvements in processes and systems, including - collaborating on the development of compelling solutions to support operational capabilities.
- Undertake research and complex business analysis to support the implementation of various initiatives and projects, including identifying opportunities and recommendations for improvement in service delivery.
- Produce innovative and creative communication material, including presentations and newsletters, to support the program of work undertaken by Uniforms and Logistics.
- Contract management oversight of the PPE laundering, decontamination, maintenance and repair service i.e. service level performance, actioning internal and service provider queries, PPE life cycle management, etc.
- Prepare and review complex reports, briefs, submissions, and other correspondence on related issues and initiatives, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
- Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program activities and ensure effective service delivery and business objectives are achieved.
