About us
As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service (SES), and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The RFS are bushfire experts, who lead and manage a range of operational and organisational functions that provides services and support to approximately 28,000 volunteers (making up approximately 1,400 Rural Fire Brigades), including 2,400 Fire Wardens, who provide fire management, mitigation and response services for rural, semi-rural, and some urban fringe communities across the state. The state office is responsible for the provision of strategic frameworks and vision, drives performance and provides the tools and systems for frontline service delivery, staff and volunteers, and works closely with other public safety agencies to ensure the planning and policy enhances the capability of its people, services, technologies and equipment, to ensure they are contemporary, agile and able to meet the service delivery needs of Queensland communities.
Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be a key member of the team, contributing to the RFS Uplift Program in the delivery of fleet, equipment, assets, personnel, policies and procedures. You will assist and support in the delivery of multiple workstreams to ensure the end-to-end management of processes relating to the program, whilst adhering to QFES governance and policy and assisting the development of project documentation, monitoring project budgets, managing timelines, undertaking stakeholder engagement, and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers and key stakeholders to achieve fit-for-purpose outcomes that meet strategic organisational objectives.

Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Contribute to the implementation of strategies and plans of complex projects and ensure alignment with organisational requirements, best practice project methodologies and governance frameworks.
- Assist program lead(s) in the management and coordination of all aspects of project delivery across a diverse range of projects exercising judgement and influence to manage requirements within tight deadlines.
- Develop and implement relevant and effective project management, stakeholder management, governance and reporting systems and processes.
- Research and Analyse to deliver timely, high quality project outcomes, managing risks, and emerging issues, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure the provision of regular and accurate reporting on the status of project deliverables and milestones.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project activities and ensure program delivery meets desired timeframes and budget allocations.
- Assist in the preparation of submissions, briefs and other correspondence relating to project activities, and provide status updates and reports on outcomes, in accordance with department requirements.
- Represent the department in relevant forums and facilitate working groups to ensure key project deliverables and timeframes are achieved.
