At Urban Utilities, our purpose is simple yet powerful – Enrich Quality of Life. With a $6 billion asset base and services spanning 1.5 million residents and more than 31,000 commercial customers across South East Queensland, we are committed to enhancing the liveability of our communities every day.
Your opportunity:
We have an opportunity in a newly shaped Project Manager role in our Operations and Maintenance group.
We are seeking a Project Manager to deliver a high volume of minor capital and asset renewal projects across our water and wastewater networks. These projects are typically minor in value, but high in operational importance they ensure assets remain safe, compliant and serviceable while reducing risk and improving public health and environmental outcomes.
Working within the Maintenance Program Delivery team, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating internal civil delivery teams and external delivery partners to execute works efficiently, safely and within scope. This role requires a strong ability to juggle competing priorities, maintain clarity of scope, and bring consistency and discipline to the delivery of numerous short-duration projects.
You will manage the full lifecycle of maintenance projects from scoping and planning through to delivery, cost tracking, risk management and handover to BAU. You’ll work closely with our field teams, Delivery Partners and technical specialists to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
This is a hands on project delivery role ideal for someone who thrives in operational environments, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to contribute to the long-term performance and sustainability of critical water and wastewater assets.
About You:
You enjoy the fast-paced nature of coordinating many small projects at once, each with their own set of technical, logistical and stakeholder considerations. You thrive in environments where the workflow is high volume, fast-moving and requires strong planning, communication and problem solving.
You are the type of project manager who naturally brings structure, consistency and transparency to delivery even when juggling dozens of minor jobs at varying stages of completion.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Science, Finance, IT or related field (desirable).
- Project management qualifications or progression toward PMP (advantageous).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project delivery, ideally within utilities, construction or civil/maintenance environments.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, scheduling, cost control and risk management.
- Well-developed communication skills for engaging field crews, delivery partners and internal technical stakeholders.
At Urban Utilities, we believe our workforce should reflect the community we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, emergency responders and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
You might not meet every single requirement listed. If you are excited about the role and believe you can make a strong contribution, we encourage you to apply.
If you require adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.
