Your Opportunity

We are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Technical Officer for our Scientific Analytical Services (SAS) Laboratory, that forms part of our Customer & Innovation group.

The Customer and Innovation group leads and champions the way Urban Utilities connects with its customers. Our approach is focused on remaining contemporary, by understanding the current and future needs of our customers and appropriately shaping our services.

This role is a senior member of the Technical Officer Pool responsible for provision of timely analytical activity and throughput (chemical, physical and microbiological) under the technical guidance of Analytical Chemist / Microbiologists.

As a technical leader, the incumbent shall be capable of data interpretation in accordance with service level agreements and specified client obligations. The Senior Technical Officer shall participate in regular rotations to ensure the widest possible chemistry and biosciences experience.

Some of your accountabilities will include:

  • Carry out a specified range of complex tests; interpret test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required to ensure conformance.

  • Carry out a range of quality management activities to contribute to the identification and evaluation of current policies and business processes that are best practice.

  • Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements.

  • Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards, and identify shortcomings in compliance processes, systems and procedures, and develop ad hoc solutions to problems within an assigned unit or discipline.

  • Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplac

About You:

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • You have a customer focussed mindset and naturally build meaningful customer relationships. You excel at collaboration, aligning objectives, and achieving desired outcomes.

  • As a technical leader, you will bring a growth mindset to working with stakeholders, leading quality management activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Previous technical experience in chemistry and/or organics in a commercial laboratory environment.

  • Tertiary education in chemistry/science, or specialist working experience.

  • This role is based at our Laboratory in Darra, and you are expected to work their full time. There is free staff parking or street parking available.
