At Urban Utilities, our purpose is simple yet powerful – Enrich Quality of Life. With a $7 billion asset base and services spanning 1.5 million residents and more than 31,000 commercial customers across South East Queensland, we are committed to enhancing the liveability of our communities every day.

About the Opportunity

Join our Infrastructure, Planning & Delivery group at a critical time as we deliver major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across our growing network.

As Senior Commissioning Manager, you'll be responsible for commissioning activities for complex assets from design through to operational readiness and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and ready to perform from day one. Working closely with project teams, operational stakeholders and delivery partners, you'll provide specialist commissioning expertise from design through to operational handover, helping ensure assets are safe, reliable and ready to perform from day one.

This is an opportunity to apply your commissioning expertise on projects that directly benefit the communities we serve, while contributing to consistent commissioning practices across our capital delivery program.

What You’ll Deliver

  • Manage commissioning planning and delivery activities for complex infrastructure projects, supporting safe and successful asset handover.
  • Provide commissioning expertise throughout design, construction, testing and operational readiness phases.
  • Partner with project teams, contractors and operational stakeholders to coordinate commissioning outcomes and address delivery risks.
  • Support the implementation of consistent commissioning processes, standards and practices across projects.
  • Contribute technical expertise, mentoring and practical guidance to project teams while promoting best-practice commissioning and risk management.

About You

  • Significant experience commissioning complex electrical, control systems and instrumentation assets.
  • Proven delivery of FAT, SAT, integrated testing and operational handover activities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across project, contractor and operational environments.
  • Experience within water, wastewater, utilities, industrial or major infrastructure environments.
  • Sound understanding of engineering, construction and project delivery practices.

At Urban Utilities, we believe our workforce should reflect the community we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, emergency responders and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

You might not meet every single requirement listed. If you are excited about the role and believe you can make a strong contribution, we encourage you to apply. If you require adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.

Why Urban Utilities

  • Generous Salary Packaging options, including novated leases
  • Corporate discounts across Health insurance, technology and more
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave, 15 days personal leave including two proactive wellbeing days, and an additional day of leave each year to connect with friends and family
