The Corporate and Finance Group supports Urban Utilities' purpose and vision by championing excellence, safeguarding assets, and driving value for our customers, the community and shareholders. This team also provides a comprehensive range of services essential for effective business management and strategic decision-making.
We currently have an opportunity for a Financial & Tax Accountant to join the Financial Control Team ensuring that Urban Utilities maintains compliance with taxation requirements. This includes the preparation and lodgement of tax returns (e.g. BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT and LGTER returns), payment of tax instalments to shareholders as well as ensuring that financial transactions are recorded and reported in accordance with relevant accounting standards and tax requirements (e.g. Tax Effective Accounting and preparation of Financial Statements Tax disclosures).

We’d love to hear from you if you are a dedicated and experienced Accountant who is keen to connect their skills to purpose in the water industry! You’ll be providing specialist, high level financial accounting and tax advice while engaging across all areas of Urban Utilities. You’ll also be developing and maintaining taxation policy, procedure and training documentation. It would be great if you have:
Experience with developing, implementing & maintaining tax processes and controls
Expertise in providing tax advice that supports business decisions including analysis of tax impacts, reporting and recommendations
An understanding and ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures with respect to relevant tax legislation.
Degree qualifications in business combined with specialist training and substantial experience in financial transactions management
CPA/CA certification
CTA certification (desirable)
