Your opportunity:
Urban Utilities has a 15 month Fixed Term Contract Opportunity for a Operations Engineer within our Operational Reliability team. This team plays a vital role ensuring operational reliability of 9500km water network and 9700km wastewater network for over 1.6 million residential customers.
The Operational Reliability team is part of our wider Operations and Maintenance portfolio, Dedicated to the safe and efficient delivery of water services through the operation and maintenance of our water, wastewater and resource recovery infrastructure. This team is vital to Urban Utilities’ purpose to “Enrich Quality of Life,” ensuring the safety of our people and customers, protecting public health and the environment, meeting customer needs, and minimising long-term service costs.
The Operations Engineer is responsible for -
- Provide engineering support and technical advice across the Operations & Maintenance Planning Branch.
- Develop effective technical solutions for complex operational and emergent issues.
- Deliver technical assurance to support operational reliability of the network.
- Identify and address systemic operational and engineering performance issues.
- Prepare contingency and supply disruption plans to ensure staff and customer safety.
- Protect public health and ensure compliance with regulatory and safe drinking water requirements.
- Contribute to delivering an exceptional customer experience while minimising long-term costs.
About you:
- Bachelor of Engineering or relevant degree from a recognised institution
- Proven technical experience in operational engineering
- Hydraulic modelling and simulation experience highly regarded
- Proven experience in providing technical support functions on water and sewerage programs including experience contributing to effective operational and asset management outcomes.
- Experience or qualifications in hydraulics, production planning or water chemistry would be highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to understand the technical dimensions of operating a water utility and the associated regulatory obligations
- Confident in providing technical guidance as needed on achieving engineering development targets using appropriate methods, tools, processes and software
