Key Responsibilities:
The Executive Director, Engagement & Events is a key member of the RANZCOG Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for driving engagement and revenue growth through high quality events, strategic partnerships, sponsorships, government funding submissions, philanthropic programs, quality assurance and member focused initiatives.
The key responsibilities of the role shall include, but not limited to:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership across Events, Quality Assurance Programs, the RANZCOG Foundation, Marketing, Business Development, Sponsorship & Partnerships, State & Territory Support, and Government Funding submissions.
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of all RANZCOG events, including the Annual Scientific Meeting, professional development activities, symposia, and member engagement events, ensuring high quality delegate experience and strong financial performance.
- Lead the development of a marketing and business development framework that aligns with RANZCOG’s strategic objectives, purpose, and values.
- Establish and grow strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and revenue generating opportunities in alignment with RANZCOG’s ethical and organisational standards.
- Oversee the development of commercial partnerships and long-term sponsorship agreements to support events, programs, and organisational initiatives.
- Provide oversight of RANZCOG’s quality assurance programs to ensure they are effectively managed and financially sustainable.
- Ensure RANZCOG’s quality assurance programs continuously contribute to improving standards in women’s health.
- Lead the strategic direction and governance of the RANZCOG Foundation to support the College’s philanthropic objectives.
- Develop and implement comprehensive funding strategies to establish new revenue streams, including grants, bequest and donor campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors to foster ongoing engagement and long-term support for the foundation’s mission.
- Proactively seek funding opportunities and lead the development of high-quality government funding proposals and grant applications that align with RANZCOG’s strategic objectives.
- Oversee the identification and management of new business opportunities and viable income streams for the College in domestic and international markets in line with the College Values and strategic priorities.
- Development of successful submissions/tenders for new projects and program development/expansion in conjunction with other key stakeholders and in accordance with College priorities and in accordance with College policy and processes.
- Provide leadership to staff, including development of KPIs, performance management, guidance, and training for Engagement & Events Directorate staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team on key strategic priorities for the College.
- Develop and oversee annual budgets and expenditure for all cost centres within areas of responsibility.
- Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer within the scope of this position.
This position involves work outside normal business hours and weekends beyond the 37.5 hours specified under contract. The position also requires interstate and international travel.
Ko wai koe | About you - Key Selection Criteria
- A post graduate tertiary qualification in business, marketing, communications, health administration, public policy, or related discipline
- Proven senior leadership experience managing multiple portfolios in a complex organisation, including events, stakeholder engagement, marketing, business development, or related functions.
- Demonstrated success in leading large scale conferences and events with strong financial, operational, and stakeholder outcomes.
- Experience developing and delivering marketing and business development strategies that strengthen member value, and revenue generation.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a track record in securing and managing sponsorships, partnerships or other revenue generating agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to develop high quality submissions, grant applications, or funding proposals, preferably in a health, education, or regulatory context.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high performing teams, and to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders and external partners
