Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity
As part of our small, fast-paced Governance and Legal team, you’ll work across all areas of the College, providing legal expertise and coordination for key governance functions. This role is a 12-months fixed term contract and involves managing complex tasks, supervising staff, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to uphold compliance and deliver exceptional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with legal research, contract drafting, and policy reviews.
- Manage the contract management system and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Supervise a small team, setting deliverables and monitoring performance of our Legal Coordinator and Officer.
- Coordinate committees and prepare documentation with legal and regulatory considerations.
- Act as Complaints Officer and provide advice on complaint resolution.
- Support privacy compliance and assist with implementing privacy frameworks.
- Liaise with external legal providers and manage legal budgets.
- Organise Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings, including preparing notices and documentation.

- Tertiary qualification in law and experience in a legal environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand legislation and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supervising staff and working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with governance processes and meeting procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office and strong administrative capability.
- A positive, flexible attitude and resilience in handling sensitive matters.
