Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity
Reporting to the Advocacy Manager, the Policy Officer plays a key role in shaping policy and advocacy initiatives that support our members and advance systemic improvements in women’s health. This is a dynamic position requiring strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare submissions, reports, policy statements, and presentations for advocacy campaigns.
- Support the development of standards, policies, and guidelines for members.
- Monitor policy developments in the women’s health sector and provide strategic advice.
- Engage with members and trainees to inform submissions and projects.
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistent messaging.
- Attend State & Territory meetings and contribute to jurisdictional advocacy work.
- Manage and support projects within the Advocacy and Communications unit.
Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement – 3 days in our Melbourne office and 2 days working from home.

You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional with:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to critically appraise health research and summarise complex data.
- Understanding of public policy, health funding systems, and women’s health issues.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with policy development processes.
- Desirable: Experience in health policy, advocacy, or a not-for-profit environment.
