About the Team
Reporting directly to the Director – Supply Chain Management, this is a key role within the RDA Supply Chain Leadership Team. You will be responsible for leading the Procurement team including people, process, procedure and further development of systems, implemented across RDA and the Rheinmetall Group globally.
About the role
The Senior Manager – Procurement holds full accountability for integration with and service delivery to the business units via the project specific Supply Program Managers and the centralised procurement Category Management Teams.
As the Senior Manager – Procurement you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Leading the growth and development of a professional contracting and procurement team;
- Analysis of program demand, supplier / category market intelligence and development of cost models;
- Development and execution of procurement strategies aligned to program and business objectives;
- Delivery of cost-reduction initiatives in cooperation with programs and business units to achieve targets set on annual basis;
- Oversee the preparation of category and project presentations to the Strategic Sourcing Board;
- Prepare and lead strategic supplier negotiations;
- Establishing and maintaining a supplier relationship management framework and transparent performance metric exchange with the supply base;
- Establishing strong relationships with strategic suppliers, program directors and heads of department and business units;
- Engagement and alignment with a number of international peers;
- Internal training delivery for company employees in commodity procurement practice, S4/HANA SAP, procurement policy, process, and procedure; and
- Continuous Improvement or related analytics tasks at the discretion of the Director Supply Chain Management.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law / Procurement / Business / Supply Chain / or related disciplines;
- Have an excellent knowledge of Procurement practice, S2C, RtP, and business processes;
- Experienced in leading teams of Procurement professionals across a range of categories;
- Demonstrated experience in an equivalent role, or relevant professional experience in a role directly reporting to an equivalent;
- Experience in change management and excellent written and oral presentation skills; and
- Willingness to travel interstate and internationally for business.
- Be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment screening; and
- An ability to travel internationally and interstate when and if required.
Desirable:
- Experience in implementation and adaptation of SAP S/4HANA in procurement;
- Experience in process design and optimization;
- Strong expertise in project management skills; and
- Exposure or experience in inventory, warehouse and logistics.
