The Primary responsibility of the Cyber Security Analyst is to investigate anomalies and manage security events and incidents. This position will play an integral role within a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for supporting and managing a number of tools across the environment. The Senior Cyber Security Analyst will also provide security advice to the IT Team about day-to-day business and IT projects.
The Cyber Security Analyst will be expected analyse and audit existing systems and solutions in RDA and make recommendations to improve RDA’s security posture. They will also provide detailed reporting regarding risks in the IT environment to ensure that RDA is complying with local legislation and Rheinmetall policy.
The role will include the review of Information/Cyber Security Plans and procedures, as well as aid in investigating breaches and documenting any incidence response activities. The role will report locally to the CSOC Senior Manager.
As Cyber Security Analyst, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Lead of end point detection and SIEM;
- Cyber security incident response and other related activities whilst maintaining high standard of service;
- Assist in security project implementation for testing, monitoring, log ingestion, and reporting purposes;
- Remain up to date with the latest security systems, standards, authentication protocols, and products;
- Review and evaluate IT concepts (hardware/software) to identify gaps in business processes and controls to assist in the design and documentation of the processes;
- Promote security policies and the security awareness program;
- Continually check the implementation of IT security requirements for continual improvement;
- Asset vulnerability analysis and cyber security threat management, and risk analysis;
- Management and participation in projects, consulting and support of departments in IT security matters;
- Steering of service providers to maintain and improve the agreed IT security services;
- Evaluation of findings and vulnerability, as well as derivation of necessary IT security measures including follow-up;
- Regular review and selection of IT security recommendations from manufacturers for use within our company;
- Providing Security awareness training and promoting security awareness throughout the business;
- Coordinate and respond to security incidents and queries, providing analysis of events and vulnerability remediation;
- Regular review 3rd party vendor configurations and lead audits for data centre locations;
- Provide regular reports to IT Management regarding risks and potential vulnerabilities;
- Work within the Vehicle Systems Division security team to support the business from a global perspective;
- Run or be part of company projects or initiatives to enhance the security of Rheinmetall overall;
- Discharge safety accountabilities which include taking appropriate steps to eliminate health and safety risks and to minimise psychological injury in the workplace and educating and raising the awareness of managers and employees of their roles in minimising the risk of injury or illness in the workplace; and
- Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.
About your new team
The RDA Security Team is a team of 9 and will expand as the business continues to grow. This role will be located at the Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence – MILVEHCOE, it will be based in Redbank in Ipswich.
The Cyber Security team is responsible to provide detailed security advice to the business.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security or comparable qualifications with relevant professional experience;
- At least 5 years of professional experience in IT security;
- A working knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual; and
- Working knowledge of the Defence Security Principles Framework and the Protective Security Policy Framework.
