Put theory into practice and work with an experienced and engaging team, where you will be a key member and work on the development, production and sustainment of Mission Equipment and Test Systems (hardware and software).

Reporting to the Lead Systems Engineer, you will facilitate the production of electronic Mission Systems in Australia and serially produced items fulfil functional baselines and meet quality standards.

As the Systems Engineer, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Define, develop, and document test procedures for Test Systems intended for production activities;
  • Design and develop hardware adaptations and software programs for Test Systems;
  • Interpret existing test specifications or develop new specifications from technical data for electronic Mission Systems;
  • Commission new Test Systems into the production environment and assist in training production staff in the use of Test Systems;
  • Write documentation supporting the development and commissioning of Test Systems;
  • Oversee and track design activities in conjunction with Design Engineers and Suppliers;
  • Define, develop and assist with Mission System Verification and Validation test campaigns; and
  • Document and communicate all development and V&V related findings and decisions.

The Electronic Solutions Systems Engineering team works in partnership with the Engineering, Project and Management teams for the design, implementation, testing and commissioning for a range of military programs.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Entry level Systems Engineer with a few years’ experience or recent Graduate;
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering field such Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or in a related discipline;
  • Experience working with electronic hardware including Printed Circuit Board Assemblies and Cable Assemblies would be desirable;
  • Experience with programming, preferably in Python would be desirable;
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes such as requirement, interface analysis, specification development and management and Verification and Validation activity coordination would be desirable;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical staff;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to resolve complex problems and issues;
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate, when required; and
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
