WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

About the Team

The Welding Department is a critical function within the broader Production team, playing a key role in supporting our operational goals. Welders operate under the guidance of a dedicated team lead, fostering strong collaboration and technical consistency. As an integral unit, they contribute significantly to production efficiency and output quality. With ongoing growth in production demands, the Welding Department continues to expand in alignment with our strategic scaling efforts.

About the Role

The Team Lead Weld Shop will be working on the afternoon shift and is responsible for overseeing the operations of the MILVEHCOE Weld Shop staff, tooling, and facility. This role will ensure the team completes work that complies to all Weld quality,  WH&S, and 5S requirements.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent Welders trade qualifications;
  • Armoured Steel Weld Qualification; 
  • Experience working autonomously building welded steel assemblies in a manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in a supervisor or foreman position in Fabrication and Welding workshop environment; 
  • Qualified with the use MIG and TIG welding systems including working with HS Steels;
  • Strong understanding of complete welding fabrication of major assemblies;
  • Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures of complex structural components and entire vehicles;
  • Be able to travel internationally if need be for training (this will be a once off occasion); and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
