Pre Sales Engineer - EcoStruxure Automation Expert – Perth

Lead the Future of Industrial Automation

Shape the Future of Automation

At Schneider Electric, we’re not just imagining the future of automation—we’re enabling it. We’re looking for a passionate and technically brilliant Pre-sales Engineer to join our Centre of Excellence (COE) in the Pacific Zone and help drive the adoption of EcoStruxure Automation Expert (EAE)—the world’s first software-defined, hardware-agnostic industrial automation platform.

This is your opportunity to influence innovation for sustainable impact.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Pre-sales Engineer in our Centre of Excellence (COE) across the Pacific, you’ll be at the forefront of driving adoption of EcoStruxure Automation Expert (EAE). You’ll bring deep technical expertise to support our sales teams, partners, and customers—delivering best practices, innovative architectures, and advanced troubleshooting that accelerate success.

Reporting to the EAE COE Lead, you’ll align technical solutions with our commercial strategy and technology roadmap, influencing decision-makers and supporting customers through the full project lifecycle—from concept to commissioning.

You’ll be on the road engaging clients and partners through in-person presentations, demos and technical workshops (30–50% of time spent travelling), with a vehicle provided for customer related travel.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical pre-sales support to accelerate sales growth and increase conversion rates using EAE

  • Act as the technical subject matter expert to define and implement advanced automation architectures using EAE

  • Collaborate with customers to identify technical requirements and constraints, and propose tailored automation solutions using EAE

  • Clearly articulate and demonstrate the advantages of EAE over conventional automation systems

  • Develop solution architectures and demos that showcase the innovation, efficiency, and value of EAE compared to conventional automation systems

About You

You’re a technically strong and commercially aware automation expert with a proven ability to design solution architectures that meet diverse customer needs. With deep knowledge of both legacy and modern systems, you’re confident in integrating new technologies and driving innovation across industrial environments, as well as:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in automation solution development and programming
  • Proven ability to design and implement system/solution architectures for industrial applications
  • Deep expertise in PLC programming, SCADA/DCS, and industrial networking
  • Strong knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, etc.)
  • Experience with IIoT, IT/OT convergence, and modern development environments (Windows/Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm, virtualization)
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and languages such as C/C++, Python, JavaScript
  • Networking experience across LAN, WAN, VLAN, and TCP/IP-based protocols
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
  • A background in embedded software engineering or IT-focused software delivery is highly regarded
