Build Your Career in Residential Sales & Smart Home Solutions

Adelaide – On-site role based at our Gepps Cross location.

Are you passionate about helping customers bring their new home ideas to life?

At Schneider Electric, we’re looking for a Residential Sales & Design Consultant to guide homeowners through the electrical, smart home, safety and lifestyle choices that will become part of their new home.

Working with our iconic Clipsal and Schneider Electric brands, you’ll combine your sales experience, technical understanding and customer focus to deliver personalised consultations and recommend solutions that meet each homeowner’s lifestyle, design and future needs.

This is a great opportunity to build your career at the intersection of sales, residential design and smart home technology within a global leader in energy management and automation.

What You’ll Do

As a Residential Sales & Design Consultant, you’ll manage the customer consultation journey from understanding their needs through to final design and specification.

You will:

• Conduct engaging face-to-face and virtual design consultations with homeowners.
• Build strong relationships and understand each customer’s lifestyle, preferences, project requirements and future needs.
• Guide customers through electrical, safety, connectivity and smart home options.
• Recommend suitable Clipsal and Schneider Electric products and solutions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance customer outcomes through relevant product recommendations and upgrades.
• Explain technical products and technologies in a simple and engaging way.
• Interpret residential floor plans, building documentation and construction drawings.
• Develop tailored room-by-room electrical designs and product specifications using Clipspec.
• Prepare accurate Bills of Materials and supporting project documentation.
• Provide professional post-consultation support and manage customer enquiries.
• Build effective relationships with homeowners, builders, electricians and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate project information and manage multiple customer projects and priorities.
• Continuously develop your knowledge of residential construction, smart home technology and the Schneider Electric portfolio.

About You

You’re a customer-focused sales professional who enjoys understanding what customers need and helping them make confident decisions.

You combine strong relationship-building skills with commercial awareness and are comfortable discussing products, presenting options and recommending solutions.

You’ll bring:

• 2–5 years of sales experience within the construction, residential building, housing, building products or a closely related industry.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Services or a related technical discipline.
• Experience engaging with homeowners, builders, contractors or customers within the construction industry.
• Demonstrated experience understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate products or solutions.
• Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Confidence presenting solutions and influencing customer decisions.
• Ability to interpret residential floor plans, construction drawings or similar technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple customer projects and competing priorities.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for smart home technology, automation, sustainability and residential innovation.
• Confidence using digital tools and learning new systems.

Experience with electrical products, technical or specification-based products, smart home solutions, Clipspec or CRM systems would be highly regarded but is not essential.

Who Thrives in This Role?

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re naturally curious, commercially minded and passionate about helping customers.

You enjoy building relationships and acting as a trusted advisor rather than simply selling a product. You’re comfortable balancing customer needs with commercial outcomes and can translate technical information into solutions that are easy for homeowners to understand.

Most importantly, you’re excited by the opportunity to combine sales, technology and residential design to help customers create smarter, safer and more connected homes.

Why Schneider Electric?

You’ll have the opportunity to work with Clipsal, one of Australia’s most recognised electrical brands, while developing your expertise in residential technology, electrification and smart home solutions.

You’ll join a collaborative and supportive environment with access to ongoing product training, professional development and career opportunities within a global organisation shaping the future of energy management and automation.
