To support Sedgman’s growth in Australia West, we are proud to offer the position of Senior Project Engineer based in Perth with site travel required.
The role will require but not be limited to:
- Liaise with other business units in the preparation of commercial documents, constructability reviews and forecasts and to also provide meaningful feedback and recommendations on process improvements.
- Contribute to constructability improvements for the design.
- Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders.
- Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports.
- Assist Project Control and the Project Manager to prepare schedules for the project.
- Ensure that contract works ‘packages’ are engineered in accordance with standards set by both client and the company.
- Determine the timely issue of contracts / purchase orders and ensure that they comply with both the Head Contract and internal procedures.
- Support Project Manager for end of month cost reviews, preparation of forecasts and financial reports
- Set up and maintain orderly project directory files and ensure that schedules, drawings and correspondence are recorded, stored and distributed in accordance with procedure.
- Refer any major problems during a project's duration to the Project Manager or relevant functional manager.
- Attend site meetings for Subcontractor management
- Assist in the resolution of technical queries from subcontractors
- Set up and maintain orderly project directory files and ensure that schedules, drawings and correspondence are recorded, stored and distributed in accordance with procedure.
- Refer any major problems during a project's duration to the Project Manager or relevant functional manager.
- Attend site meetings for Subcontractor management
- Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards.
- Assist in the resolution of technical queries from subcontractors
- Ensure subcontractor payments are managed in accordance with the contract conditions.
What are we looking for?
- Tertiary education in engineering or construction
- Minimum 10 years project experience and 2 years’ in design activities.
- Contracts negotiation and management experience
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Skills in SAP, MS Office Suite and MS Project or Primavera P6
- Mining industry construction experience and cost control and planning experience is desired
