About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

About the position:

Are you an experienced civil engineer ready to leave your mark on one of Australia’s most significant infrastructure projects? We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join the Snowy 2.0 Owners team. Reporting to the Project Manager Surface works. This role will help lay the groundwork for the project's transition into its FRP phase.

You will be our eyes and ears on the ground. In this pivotal role, you will oversee major civil construction works, ensuring everything is built to the highest standard, meets contractual requirements, and aligns with the Employer's vision. If you thrive in dynamic, large-scale environments and love seeing a complex project come to life, this is for you

Key Responsibilities:

  • FRP Quality & Delivery: Actively oversee complex Formwork, Reinforcement, and Pour (FRP) sequences. You will be on the ground managing critical Witness and Hold points, reviewing Contractor ITPs, and ensuring every pour meets stringent design and quality specifications.

  • Championing Safety: Upholding the highest standards of health and safety, leading by example, and living the Snowy Values every day on site.

  • Driving Construction Excellence: Proactively overseeing contractor activities to catch potential issues early, preventing delays, and ensuring the Snowy 2.0 asset performs exactly as designed.

  • Quality Management: Owning the on-site QA process for civil works, reviewing the latest IFC drawings, and guaranteeing top-tier documentation.

  • Problem Solving: Spotting discrepancies or faults in site documents and collaborating with the Construction Manager to find immediate, effective solutions

About the location:

This role is located 100% on Site, working a 14/7 FIFO roster. Standard camp style amenities are included.

About you:

  • The Qualifications: An Engineering degree that meets the eligibility requirements for Corporate Membership of Engineers Australia.

  • Heavy FRP Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience managing complex Formwork, Reinforcement, and Pour (FRP) sequences. You know the lifecycle of a major pour inside and out and can confidently drive the QA/QC process.

  • Technical Sharpness: A keen eye for reading and interpreting structural work scopes, technical specifications, and complex IFC drawings to detect issues before the concrete cures.

  • Stakeholder Management: Highly developed communication and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with and supervise external contractors, steelfixers, and concrete suppliers.

About our workforce:

Diversity and inclusion is important to us: Snowy Hydro has a culture of decency and inclusion, with a commitment to the health and wellbeing of our people and a supportive environment to ensure that everyone - regardless of background - feels included and can succeed. At Snowy Hydro, we recognise that we are made stronger by the unique capabilities and qualities that each individual brings, and we believe in providing an environment that allows that uniqueness to thrive.
