About the role
The purpose of the Land Development Officer, is to assess South East Water’s servicing and financial requirements for the connection of new developments and meet the growth demands in South East Waters licence area. The role which is a permanent, full time opportunity, requires working collaboratively through a contractual agreement with land developers, engineering consultants, civil contractors, councils and other authorities to deliver, in accordance with our strategic planning the installation of assets.
Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:
- providing preliminary servicing advice for development proposals
- preparing and authorising Statutory Referrals
- preparing and managing Development Agreements (Contracts) for the installation of assets
- evaluating construction tenders and tender variations
- recommending South East Water expenditure in accordance with SEW's Land Development Policies and Pricing Manual
- assessing alternative and innovative servicing options for new developments
- liaising with Customer Service Delivery to resolve complex operational issues
- conducting meetings with developers, engineering consultants, surveyors, builders, local councils and other authorities
About you
To be successful in this position, you will need experience in a similar role, along with:
- an ability to understand technical matters and learn new technical skills
- knowledge of the Water Act, Planning and Environmental Act, Subdivision Act, ISO 9001 Standards and Standards contained within the Melbourne Retail Water Agencies Water and Sewerage Codes
- knowledge of the design or construction of water and sewerage facilities
- knowledge of hydraulic principles
- a high level of negotiation skills to resolve complex servicing and financial requirements
- a strong customer focus
- an ability to determine and manage multiple tasks based on assessment of priorities and stakeholder requirements.
