About the role

The role of Water Maintenance Engineer is an important contributor within the Water Maintenance team responsible for the delivery of maintenance services for SEW’s large water and recycled water network.

The role leads our maintenance technicians to ensure that water network failures identified are completed by our Industry Partners in an efficient and timely manner and in accordance with SEW’s Customer Charter, strategic initiatives, and asset management plans.

About you

The skills and experience required for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in civil or environmental engineering or related discipline.
  • High level technical knowledge and 5-10 years experience in one or more of the water and recycled water network asset life cycle (asset mgt, planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance).
  • Experience in the use of information technology related to works management systems, GIS, SCADA systems, with the ability to identify system inefficiencies and to provide innovative solutions.
  • In depth understanding and demonstrated experience in financial and numerical literacy and budget management.
  • Strong project management, contract management, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing complex network issues and failures, problem diagnosis, with excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A background in people management, with an ability to lead small teams and develop competencies of the team through coaching and support
