About the role
The purpose of this role is to lead the team that is responsible for providing support to South East Water’s water recycling plant (WRP) operations team. This includes provision of high-level technical process support to optimise the WRPs and operational support such as procurement and contract management, WRP recycled water customer management and delivery of minor site works.
In addition, the role will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems (such as HACCP, ISO55001, ISO14001) covering treatment processes, biosolids use, soil and groundwater monitoring programs.
About you
To be considered for this full-time, permanent opportunity, you'll have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Science or other relevant Degree with a strength in microbiology, biochemistry and/or chemistry
- High level technical understanding of the following fields: quality systems, treatment plant process engineering, chemistry, microbiology, public health, environmental monitoring and management systems
- Familiarity with treatment processes associated with sewage treatment and water recycling
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to ensuring a safe working environment including identification of safety hazards and management of suitable controls
- Ability to make sound technical and professional decisions
- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team
- Understanding of PLC/SCADA and process control systems
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Good conflict management skills
- A ‘customer first’ mindset
- At least 10 years’ experience as a professional engineer
