The role
We're looking to add a Delivery Sewer Maintenance Technician to our skilled Sewer Maintenance team. As the Sewer Maintenace Delivery Technician, you'll be based in both field and office and will oversee the delivery of maintenance activities on the South East Water’s sewerage networks whilst ensuring industry partners are operating correctly and in accordance with industry practices and standards.
What you can expect to be involved in on a day-to-day basis in this role:
- Ensure that the day-to-day activities of relevant Industry Partners works are completed in line with contract requirements and cost.
- Auditing of industry partners and contractors' activities to ensure the works are undertaken safely and in accordance with contract requirements.
- Provide expert advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on all sewer maintenance related matters.
- Identify, help develop and implement maintenance programs consistent with WSAA and MRWA standards.
- Attend Operational and Performance meetings to ensure completion of Programmed Maintenance programs.
- Lead investigations of sewer system failures, blockages and spills to quickly restore services and minimise impact on customers and the environment.
- Participate in network related incidents and the after-hours duty roster as a Response Officer.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
This team operates within a 24/7 service environment and provides emergency response to minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. The Sewer Maintenance Delivery Technician will oversee the delivery of reactive maintenance activities, scheduled maintenance programs, Trenchless Sewer repair programs and Property Connection Renewal Program.
Who are you?
With 5+ years' experience in the water and sewerage industry, you have a high level of technical knowledge and demonstrated experience of one or more of the sewerage system asset lifecycle (planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance).
Our ideal candidate can demonstrate the following skills, experience and knowledge:
- A strong understanding of asset management principles and safety processes relating to sewerage networks.
- Good understanding of the relevant WSAA standards and codes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder and conflict management skills with an ability to supervise and negotiate issues with contractors and other external parties whilst building strong working relationships.
- A ‘customer first’ mindset with the ability to resolve customer issues using a sound sense of judgement, tack, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Independent and innovative thinking for future challenges and growth.
