Our integrated Bauxite Mine, Alumina Refinery and Port Operation is creating the essential products needed for a sustainable low carbon future.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight and support of all engineering undertaken for a new bauxite tailings storage facility. While the Study’s primary engineering discipline will be civil and geotechnically focused, the Study will have large scopes of work which focus on process, mechanical and electrical disciplines as well.

This is a great opportunity to work within South32’s Major Projects West Team and alongside some of the world’s best tailings storage facility engineers. With this being a long-term project, the opportunity for an extension of contract, into future project phases, is a possibility for the right candidate.

This role will be offered on an 18 month Fixed-Term Contract basis

Location

This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes – bus available from Bunbury location only) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie.

Accountabilities

Primary responsibilities are to:

• Ensure the Study’s objectives are achieved in line with Engineering Services Provider (ESP) agreed Scope of Work.
  

• Contribute to the review and monitor of all ESP Study deliverables, progress and budgets and partake and run weekly Engineering meetings
  

• Constructively participate in all design and safety reviews while proactively supporting workplace safety, design and environmental standards and procedures.
  

• Maintain oversight of the Study’s Risk Register to ensure all project risks are appropriately captured and managed.

About You

• Bachelor of Engineering – Civil, geotechnical or qualifications and experience deemed equivalent.
  

• 10 Years minimum experience in Civil earth works such as the design, construction, management of operations of tailings storage facilities or general bulk earthworks.
  

• Experience working in a project environment within the mining industry is preferred.
  

• Have experience working on multi-disciplinary engineering projects
