ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, residential on Groote Eylandt or FIFO from Darwin/Cairns. Domestic relocation assistance to Alyangula, Darwin, or Cairns from anywhere in Australia provided.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, the Medium-Term Planning Superintendent will play an integral role in the success of the mid-range mine planning and site-wide water planning at GEMCO. The role, forming part of the Technical Services Lead Team, will be accountable for leadership of the Medium-term Planning and Water Management and Planning teams as well as the as the successful support and integration of corporate long-term planning teams with the operation. As a technical expert you will find opportunities to coach mining engineers and hydrogeologists from a variety of backgrounds. The role will work closely with site operational teams and align production planning with the operation’s annual budget forecast. You will also work with our functional long term planning team in Perth to ensure preservation of long-term resource value into mid-term plan and executable production budget.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Coach and lead a diverse team of mining engineers and hydrogeologists in all aspect of planning.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the rolling 24-month production plans and supporting mine, water management and rehabilitation plans.
  • Identify and mitigate plan risks, minimising production disruption and ensure the delivery of Safety Through Design.
  • Enable the team to deliver strategic mine plans to high standards, annual operational water management strategy and align the operation’s planning to medium/long term strategy.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • A commitment to safety and continuous improvement, including process improvement
  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mining or Civil) or equivalent
  • Experience in working in large open pit mining operations
  • Understanding of value drivers in large open pit mining operations
  • Understanding of geology and hydrogeological sciences
  • Advanced in mine planning and optimisation software packages
