Cadetship Overview

This 2-year paid part-time cadetship is a unique opportunity for 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Electrical Engineer students to jump-start their career and pursue an exciting pathway within the Mining industry.

Based in the Illawarra, your part-time placements over the 2 years will allow you to balance your university study while completing meaningful work relevant to your degree with the opportunity to be made permanent. Combine your engineering studies with work experience to build the perfect foundation for your career, all while receiving professional and financial support in a paid role.

To be successful you will:

  • Be a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student currently enrolled and studying Electrical Engineering
  • Be available to start part-time employment from February 2024
  • Hold a current driver’s licence
  • Commitment to full term of the cadetship and study requirements;
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge;
  • Demonstrated interest/passion in Engineering and problem solving;
  • Have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have strong mathematical and spatial awareness;
  • Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia

Location

This position will be based at one of our two underground mines in the Illawarra, Dendrobium or Appin mine, which are located in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
