ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Hygiene, the role of Hygiene Specialist is responsible for contributing to the development, governance and continuous improvement of Worsley’s health standards, procedures, tools and programs to enable the operations to effectively manage hygiene risk.
This role leads the documentation of the project plan for the breadth of MTP enabling activities.
This role will be offered on a Permanent basis.

Position is based at
Refinery
This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes – bus available from Bunbury location only) and other nearby scenic communities. Discussion is open for flexible work arrangements to accommodate Mandurah, or similar, based individuals.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the Worsley HSERT Operations goals, based on the South32 HSERT strategy
- Develop and continuously improve Worsley’s hygiene standards, procedures, tools and programs to enable the operations to effectively manage safety risk.
- Provide input into the strategic direction for hygiene management to reduce long-term risk exposure, support legal compliance and promote enduring hygiene outcomes
- Provide support in the effective deployment of the Hygiene Standard across Worsley
- Actively carry out sampling activities, Analyse hygiene data, including event management and assurance outcomes, to identify improvement opportunities relating to Worsley hygiene standards, systems, processes and material risks Across all three operational locations
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma (Science / Safety /Engineering / Similar)
- Professional who has guided, developed and influenced practice in the H&S area with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant industry. (i.e. mining or heavy industry)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an operational environment in health/hygiene
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships (face-to-face and remote)
