ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.
As the Senior Civil Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the structural integrity program for site while providing expert civil and structural engineering support and governance within a brownfield operational environment.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Review and endorse designs, risk assessments, and inspection scopes
- Lead engagement with external designers and inspection contractors
- Provide technical assurance across both brownfield and new infrastructure
- Support root cause investigations and maintain inspection records
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Delivering civil/structural design, inspections and risk management in operational settings
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineering professionals
- Developing and maintaining governance systems and processes to control Civil and Structural Engineering standards
- Applying safety, health and environmental design principles and driving quality outcomes
- Engaging effectively with stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Hold, or be eligible for, CPEng or RPEQ
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
