About the role
Reporting to the Head of Technology, you will lead the teams that design, implement and operate Sportsbet’s emerging AI Platform — the foundational layer enabling teams across the business to rapidly build safe, scalable and high-quality AI applications.
This includes capabilities such as model access, agent orchestration frameworks, microservices and primitives for AI workflows, prompt and agent lifecycle tooling, evaluation frameworks, vector search, guardrails and safety controls, monitoring and observability, and secure multi-tenant environments.
This role will shape the future of AI engineering at Sportsbet by providing the technical foundations, patterns, tooling and services that allow internal teams to innovate faster and with confidence.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the reliability and scalability of the platform.
- Own the design, operation and evolution of the AI Platform.
- Ensure platform services meet reliability, security and performance standards.
- Integrate external capabilities through strategic partner engagement.
- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
- Influence and align stakeholders across Technology, Architecture, Data and Cyber.
About you:
- Proven leadership and expertise in three of the following: AI, Software Engineering, Machine Learning or Data.
- Experience collaborating with major technology vendors and partners.
- Experience with AI/ML/GenAI technologies (e.g. models, inference, RAG, vector search, agentic workflows).
- Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
- Understanding of governance, safety and compliance in AI workflows.
- Strong engineering fundamentals across automation, reliability, observability and DevOps.
