At FanDuel, we believe great ideas can come from anyone. If you’re curious, collaborative, and love learning, you’ll fit right in.

“I came in with a love of sport, not a trading background. The support, training, and trust I’ve had here have changed my whole career path.” — Sara, NHL Trading Team

Whether you're into the NHL, PWHL, NCAA, or just caught your first game, if you’re curious, numerically sharp, and love fast-paced environments, we want to hear from you.

About Us

As part of the Flutter Group, FanDuel is the premier gaming destination and market leader in the United States, with a Market Cap of over $35 billion USD and 20,000 employees globally.

We have offices in New York, Melbourne, California, Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, and Scotland, and we know that great ideas can come from anywhere, and anyone.

FanDuel Group is a subsidiary of Flutter Entertainment plc, the world's largest sports betting and gaming operator with a portfolio of globally recognized brands and traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: FLUT).

About The Role

As a Sports Trader at FanDuel, you’ll be right behind the numbers our customers see and bet on every day. Using statistics, in‑house models, industry insights and your own judgement, you’ll help create accurate odds, develop new betting markets and ensure bets are settled smoothly. You’ll work closely with our Risk team to manage liabilities, identify trends and continuously improve the customer experience. Based in our Melbourne office, this hybrid role offers strong training, genuine support, and a flexible working week, making it a great opportunity for data‑driven sports fans, including recent graduates, to kick‑start a career in trading.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Learn how to build and refine betting odds using in-house data models and your own research.
  • Monitor American markets in real time, adjusting odds based on live game developments, player news, and customer behaviour.
  • Rotate across other sports during the NHL offseason.
  • Collaborate across international teams to ensure pricing integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Be part of shaping how betting works for fans, from the customer experience to new bet ideas

About You

You don’t need to have watched American sport since you were five. We care more about your curiosity, mindset, and problem-solving skills than your resume.

We’re especially excited to hear from people who:

  • Are numerically sharp (think: quick mental maths, probability, or Excel skills).
  • Have high attention to detail, especially under pressure.
  • Communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and enjoy collaborating in a team.
  • Are open to working weekends as part of a flexible 5-day schedule.
  • May have a background in sports, maths, game theory, esports, STEM, or simply a love of learning.

We encourage applications from women, gender-diverse applicants, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds—even if you don’t meet every requirement.

We value curiosity, calm thinking, and teamwork.

The Perks

We work hard and play hard, so along with a competitive salary and generous performance-based bonus for permanent staff members, here’s some of our other perks:

  • $650 home office allowance
  • 25 days paid leave (plus public holidays)
  • Daily breakfast + weekend lunch allowance
  • Team social budgets and regular events
  • Parental leave: 26 weeks paid (no wait), plus phased return-to-work
  • Access to a full Employee Assistance Program
  • Learning budget for conferences, courses, and certifications

We’re Ready to Train You

Never set a betting line before? No problem. You’ll receive comprehensive training to get you up to speed on:

  • How to use our internal betting tools
  • Interpreting game data & odds models
  • Ice hockey-specific trading principles

Flexibility and Support

We offer hybrid work options. Flexible arrangements can be discussed at any stage.

Parental Leave

26 weeks of paid parental leave, with a phased return-to-work option.

Career Progression

Clear growth pathways into roles like Senior Trader, Product Analyst, and more.

Requirements (Don’t sweat the small stuff)

If you tick most of these, we encourage you to apply, even if you’re unsure:

  • Comfortable with numbers and basic probability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Passion for ice hockey and a desire to deepen your expertise
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Open to working weekends

We See You

FanDuel is committed to building a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. We know that diversity of thought, identity, and background leads to stronger teams and better decisions.

Ready to Join the Team?

Apply now and in your cover letter, tell us why you're curious about ice hockey or betting. Whether you're a stats nerd, a fan of strategy games, or a newcomer, we’d love to hear from you.

What Happens Next

Our Talent team reviews your application, and shortlisted applicants have a short phone chat before meeting the team.
