Senior Civil Engineer - ( 260000B0 )

Description

Our established and growing Buildings Civil team in Perth has a strong pipeline of project work across Health, Defence, Land Development and Commercial sectors. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Civil Engineer to step into a pivotal role — guiding the technical direction of the team, driving project delivery, and helping grow the next generation of civil engineers.

This is an opportunity for a technically strong engineer who is ready to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects, provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, and contribute to both the commercial and technical growth of the business. Projects range from early concept design and master planning through to detailed design, approvals, construction documentation and site inspections.

About the Role

Stantec are currently delivering some of the largest hospital and Defence Estate projects in WA, along with a variety of commercial, industrial, land development and general civil infrastructure projects. In this role you will bring both deep technical expertise and the ability to coordinate and inspire a capable team of engineers and designers.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership, mentorship and day-to-day guidance to civil engineers, designers and drafters.

  • Taking ownership of project delivery across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring program, budget and quality targets are met.

  • Managing client relationships and acting as the primary point of contact for key accounts.

  • Designing, coordinating and overseeing civil projects from feasibility through to construction — including earthworks, roadworks, stormwater, sewer and water network design.

  • Reviewing and approving technical deliverables including drawings, reports, specifications and authority submissions.

  • Applying and directing the use of software such as DRAINS, MUSIC, 12D and AutoCAD.

  • Coordinating multidisciplinary project activities and liaising with clients, stakeholders, local authorities and government bodies.

  • Supporting business development activities, including preparation of proposals and building external professional relationships.

  • Contributing to the strategic growth of Stantec’s civil engineering expertise within the Buildings sector.

  • Conducting and overseeing site inspections as required.

A Clear Path to Leadership

  • For the right candidate, this role offers a genuine and accelerated path into a formal leadership position within the Buildings Civil group. We are actively growing our Perth team and are committed to putting the right people in place to lead it. If you have the technical depth, the drive to develop others, and the presence to own client relationships, we will invest in getting you there — quickly.

  • This is a genuine growth opportunity where you can make an immediate impact - We are actively investing in our future and are seeking someone who is eager to grow their career alongside us.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • 7–10 years of professional experience in civil engineering consulting, with a proven track record in project delivery.

  • Demonstrated experience guiding and developing junior engineering staff.

  • Strong technical background across urban development, buildings or infrastructure sectors.

  • Chartered status (or near completion) with Engineers Australia or equivalent body.

  • Advanced proficiency with industry-standard software including DRAINS, MUSIC, AutoCAD and/or 12D.

  • Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and local authority requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships confidently.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and professionalism.

  • Experience in pavement design is advantageous but not essential.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

  • Genuine Flexible Working Arrangements — including work from home, school term contracts, job sharing and part-time options.

  • Option to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional leave.

  • Learning and Talent Development Programs — including global programmes, online learning and on-the-job development.

  • Mentoring opportunities — both receiving and providing mentorship.

  • A collaborative and enthusiastic team environment committed to producing high-quality work.

  • Professional Memberships supported.

  • Salary Continuance Insurance (SCI).

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Programs.

  • Service Recognition Awards.

  • Employee Assistance Program.
